Saving & Investments

In credit union language, a savings account is called a “share account.” When you open yours at NICCU with a minimum $25 deposit, you're buying your share of ownership in the Credit Union. You'll earn interest on your savings, and the money you deposit enables us to make loans to other Credit Union members, thus completing the cooperative circle. Plus, your deposits are federally insured for up to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and eligible share savings accounts are automatically covered with life savings insurance at no cost to you.

Once your share account is opened, you can take advantage of all the other products and services NICCU offers, including these other savings accounts:

  • Passbook Savings
  • Bluechip Savings
  • Youth Accounts
  • Holiday Club Accounts

And these hassle-free ways to systematically save:

  • Direct Deposit
    • After your Direct Deposit is credited to your designated account, you can set it up to automatically be distributed into multiple accounts, such as your savings account, children's savings accounts, a Christmas Club account, or a loan account. Get details
  • Automatic Transfers
    • With this service, you can arrange to automatically make periodic transfers (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) from your checking account or savings account to your other NICCU accounts—loans and savings accounts. This flexible system works just the way you want it to.

Looking to set up direct deposit or automatic payments? You'll need NICCU's ROUTING NUMBER, which is 273975564. You will also need your complete account number. Contact an NICCU associate to help you.

Share Savings Accounts

Your regular Share Savings Account is a passbook-style program and is your basic credit union account. Our credit union savings are called "shares," because they are like shares of stock in a corporation; they make you part owner of the credit union.

This account pays dividends from the date of deposit. A minimum deposit is required to open, and you may add to or withdraw from your account at any time. A Share Savings Account must be established and the minimum balance maintained for you to enjoy the benefits of our other services.

Share Certificates and Blue Chip Services

We offer a full range of certificates to meet your savings needs. You may start a Share Certificate with as little as $100 and pick a term that is suitable for you.

Blue Chip accounts require a $1000 minimum and may be used like a regular share account – you may add to or withdraw from this account at any time. The rates on this account are based on current market conditions.

Holiday Club Accounts

Our Holiday Club account is your best choice to save for that special season. Unlike Holiday Clubs elsewhere, we give you flexibility. There are no minimum deposits or schedule payments required. You decide when and how much to deposit. Dividends are paid from the date of deposit. November 1st funds are disbursed.
