If you have any questions about the validity of a call, please contact our office directly at (641) 424-2281.
Credit Card or Debit Card
Debit cards look like credit cards or ATM (automated teller machine) cards, but operate like cash or a personal check. Debit cards are different from credit cards. While a credit card is a way to “pay later,” a debit card is a way to “pay now.” When you use a debit card, your money is quickly deducted from your checking account. A credit card will require you to pay back the money you owe and may include interest if not paid off by due date.
Credit and debit cards are accepted at many locations, including grocery stores, retail stores, gasoline stations, and restaurants. You can use either card anywhere merchants display your card’s brand name or logo. (For example, Mastercard.) They offer an alternative to carrying a checkbook or cash.
Credit cards are limited by the amount of credit you are approved for and the amount of credit you have available (amount approved minus the amount already spent). Debit cards are limited by the amount of money you have in your checking account.
A credit card is also one way to help establish credit as you are essentially borrowing the money each month until you pay it back. Be careful and make a plan for yourself on how you are going to pay it back before you charge.
